Best of 2007

In honor of knit lit blog post, here's my Best of 2007 - feel free to do the same!

here's the premise posted by knit lit:

you spend so much time reading other people's blogs. but how often do you
look back on your own? that's the idea behind "best of 2007." inspired by a
super creative food blogger
, i've decided to host a similar event for knit
bloggers. so take a stroll through your blog archives and share your own best of
2007 post. your post should highlight the very best that your blog had to offer
this year. feel free to write about anything you like. here are a few thoughts
to get you started. after you write your post, send a link to me and i'll post
all the links here next february. don't have a knit blog yet? maybe 2008 will be
the year you start one!

1. your best FO of the year - 2007 this is a hard one for me - I guess the Sunday Brunch jacket I made for my Niece

2. best FO of the year made by a blog you link to: probably anything done by the Rainey Sisters - they're amazing!!

3. best yarn you tried - wow that's a hard one - I am loving anything with merino in it - the yarn I'm making my varigated sweater in is my favorite right now... Autunno! (YUM!)

4. best new book/mag/pattern of 2007 - I have to say that I don't love the magazines - they show lots of good girl patterns but the guy patterns are either silly or too cably for me... bookwise, my recent favs include the new Kaffe Fassett book... so inspiring!

5. best new knitting technique or gadget you tried in 2007 - probably learning how to hide my ends in as I knit... it's a timesaver! my fav. gadget would probably be the KnitKlips.... so cool

6. top 5 inspirations--what five things inspired you the most over the past year?

1.) Saying goodbye to Bishops Yarns - knowing the courage and determination required to run and have a business for that long - over 30 years I believe - knowing that knitting will always be a part of my life
2.) The workshop I had with Janice Rosema - learning that no pattern is no problem - making it up as you go is fun and having courage with colors is OK -
3.) Simply Knitting in Santa Clarita Valley.... Karen is amazing and the people there make me feel so welcome. this LYS, even though it's kind of far from home is worth the drive, because of the way the people there make me feel. I appreciate feeling so at "home"
4.) Ravelry.com - let's face it; it's revolutionizing the knitting world - from organization of my projects and photos to helping me find new yarn and resources, this is the new "go to" place for inspiration and information
5.) All the blogs I read - I love google.com/reader - my friends on there inspire me - and knowing those people makes my life richer.

7. designer who most amazed & inspired you throughout the year - She's worth mentioning twice - Janice Rosema - so creative and positive - patient and talented... can't say enough about her!

8. knitting resolutions for 2008--what's next for you and your blog? getting rid of WIP's - trying to finish what I start.... and most importantly, to try to buy with purpose - I want to reduce some of my stash - so I have decided not to buy yarn until July 4, 2008. I know I'll fall off the wagon a few times, but the important thing for me is to reduce some of the quantity of works in progress, and the works just waiting to be tackled....

Happy New Year everyone!

Hi Kyle!

Happy New Year and I wanted to tell you that you were one of my inspirations of 2007. You inspired me to make my own blog header and I finally did it! Mine is simple but I like it.
Cheers to you and I wish you all the best in 2008.
Hugs comin' at ya.
